Private equity owner Genstar Capital is exploring a sale of OEC, a parts and repair software provider used across dealership and collision networks, in a process that could value the Ohio company at up to $5 billion including debt, sources told Reuters. The process is expected to launch later in 2025 with Evercore advising; neither Genstar, OEC nor Evercore commented, Reuters reported.
Reuters’ sources said talk set OEC’s valuation around 20x EBITDA. The company reportedly generates about $200 million of EBITDA on roughly $400 million of annual revenue.
OEC was founded in 2000 with participation from Ford, GM, Chrysler and Bell & Howell (now Snap-on Business Solutions), focused on software to facilitate the sale and distribution of original replacement parts among suppliers, dealers and repair shops.
Genstar Capital acquired OEC from Providence Equity in 2019; as part of that deal, Ford and General Motors retained minority stakes.
OEC now produces solutions for a wide range of customers in the automotive and heavy-duty equipment industries. For collision repairers, it offers products that help with parts purchasing, repair planning and managing OEM certifications, as well as coaching services.
OEC’s CollisionLink was launched in 2001, streamlining OEM parts procurement between shops, dealers and suppliers, and replacing manual ordering with integrated estimate visibility. Shortly after that, OEC introduced its D2DLink network to help dealers locate, buy, sell and manage OEM parts inventory.
OEC’s shop-facing software aims to improve estimating accuracy and documentation. EstimateIQ is positioned as an estimate-analysis tool that suggests relevant operations and helps prevent “profit leakage,” with customization to align with insurer-accepted values. RepairLogic aggregates OEM repair procedures and automates portions of repair-plan creation, with OEC asserting it enables faster research and more frequent use of OEM guidance.
OEC Certified Repair Network administers 35+ OEM programs, while the Collision Performance Network (CPN) aggregates OEM certifications and promotes participating facilities.
