Unsecured fuel tank straps prompt F-150 recall
Ford Motor Co. is recalling 223,472 2023–2027 F-150 pickups because the front fuel tank straps may not be properly attached to the frame rail, according to the Part 573 Safety Recall Report. The tank can leak fuel or come loose while the truck is moving.
A leak raises the risk of fire or an engine stall, and a detached tank is a road hazard. Dealers will inspect and replace the straps as needed under NHTSA campaign 26V578 (Ford 26S69). Owner letters mail Sept. 21–28.
Bracket burr can tear Bronco side air curtains
Ford is recalling 2,711 2026 Bronco SUVs under NHTSA campaign 26V580 (Ford 26S64) because a metal burr on the right-hand side air curtain bracket can tear the curtain during deployment, according to the recall filing. A torn curtain deflates faster, which Ford says could increase injury risk in a crash.
Dealers will eliminate contact between the burr and the curtain. Interim owner letters mail Sept. 15, with remedy letters to follow Oct. 30.
Replacement modules overstate Mach-E battery health
Ford is also recalling 86 2023–2025 Mustang Mach-E vehicles with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries that received a replacement battery energy control module (BECM), according to the Part 573 filing. The replacement modules default to 100% battery state of health instead of reading the pack's actual condition, so the instrument cluster can overstate the state of charge.
The error can lead to unexpected power loss and, over time, a higher risk of battery fire. Ford said service BECMs from over-the-counter sales and warranty repairs can cause the same problem. Dealers will update the BECM software under campaign 26V582 (Ford 26S68), with interim owner letters mailing Oct. 26–29.
