Ford is recalling approximately 41,000 model year 2024–2025 F-150 Lightning electric trucks due to a manufacturing defect that could cause drivers to lose steering control and increase the risk of a crash.

The issue stems from front upper control arm ball joint nuts that may not have been adequately tightened. According to Ford, “The nut on the upper control arm ball joint may not have achieved the correct torque due to variation in the alignment or orientation between the fastening tool and the fastener that may have induced lateral forces on the tool, preventing it from properly seating on the fastener.”

This condition can potentially lead to the upper control arm detaching from the knuckle assembly, compromising the steering mechanism.

The recall is an expansion of a similar campaign launched in December 2024 and includes approximately 11,400 affected vehicles in Canada.

Ford said owners began receiving recall notification letters by mail starting June 9.

Authorized dealerships will inspect the ball joint nuts and replace the nuts and/or knuckle assemblies if necessary.

Owners with questions about the recall can contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332 and reference recall number 24S76.
