A U.S. Army veteran committed to helping her fellow service members was honored June 5 with the gift of a fully refurbished vehicle through the National Auto Body Council (NABC) Recycled Rides program, presented during the American Family Insurance Championship PGA Champions Tour event in Madison, WI.
Heather Gautsch, a six-year U.S. Army Reserve veteran who served in Iraq, received a 2025 Honda CRV Sport, donated by American Family Insurance and refurbished by Gerber Collision & Glass of Madison.
Gautsch, nominated by the Retired Senior Volunteers’ Veterans’ Helping Veterans Program, has dedicated herself to veteran support causes in Wisconsin. She volunteers with Stand Down Madison, the Madison Veterans Leadership Team, and the Veterans Support Group at the Outreach Center. Her efforts include case management services for veterans facing unemployment, hardships, and disabilities.
Her previous vehicle was unreliable, making it difficult to continue her volunteer work. Now, with a dependable car, Gautsch can continue her community efforts without transportation barriers.
American Family Insurance is a frequent contributor to the NABC Recycled Rides program.
Gerber Collision & Glass, which handled the repairs, is one of North America’s largest collision and glass repair companies. All Gerber locations are I-CAR Gold Certified, reflecting their commitment to high repair standards.
NABC Recycled Rides brings together all sectors of the collision repair industry to restore and donate vehicles to individuals and families in need. Since its launch in 2007, the program has provided over 3,500 vehicles valued at more than $51 million.
Additional contributors to this vehicle presentation included MAS (Mobile Auto Solutions), Advanced Remarketing Services, Cars for Charity and Copart.
