Repairify and Opus IVS have finalized the transaction combining their automotive diagnostics businesses. The companies announced the completed transaction July 2, formally bringing the organizations together under a unified operating structure, according to a news release.
The closing builds on the companies' January announcement outlining an intent to combine their diagnostics capabilities to strengthen service offerings, expand technology capabilities, and better support customers across the automotive repair and collision industries, the release states.
What shops can expect during integration
Shops working with asTech, BlueDriver or Opus IVS tools should not expect immediate changes to their current contacts, products or support, according to Repairify's customer notice, though the companies say they plan to coordinate engineering and service delivery going forward.
When asked what specific integration milestones or timelines shops can expect over the next six to 12 months, Repairify CEO Srisu Subrahmanyam told Autobody News that the companies are not setting a hard timeline.
"We're not putting a hard timeline on integration milestones because the priority right now is continuity — shops shouldn't notice any disruption to the tools or support they rely on today," he said. "What you will see over the next several months is the teams working together behind the scenes to identify where combining diagnostic coverage and capabilities makes the most sense for shops. When there's something concrete to announce, we will."
When asked whether the combination will change how shops access support or training across the asTech, BlueDriver and Opus IVS brands, Subrahmanya said there is no change for now.
"Shops keep their existing day-to-day contacts across asTech, BlueDriver, and Opus IVS — same support, same training resources," Subrahmanyam said. "Longer-term, part of the reason for combining these businesses is to give shops access to a broader set of capabilities, so it's reasonable to expect support and training to evolve as that happens. But there's no cutover or consolidation happening today."
Herron to lead combined diagnostics unit
Opus IVS CEO Brian Herron will now lead the combined companies' diagnostics business, made up of asTech, Opus IVS and BlueDriver, according to the release. Subrahmanyam will continue as CEO of Repairify Inc., overseeing the Repair360, Mobile Tech RX and One Guard Inspections business units under the portfolio, including the diagnostic business.
"We look forward to accelerating the development of the next generation of technology solutions for the automotive diagnostic and repair industry, helping shops and technicians work more efficiently, make better decisions, and stay ahead in an increasingly connected automotive landscape,” Herron said in the release.
Repairify's asTech brand has continued to expand separately from the Opus IVS transaction. In April, asTech partnered with CollisionRight to deploy scanning and ADAS calibration technology across the multi-shop operator's 130 locations in 11 states.
"By bringing together Repairify's industry-leading remote diagnostic expertise and Opus IVS's advanced hardware and software capabilities, we are creating a stronger platform for innovation and customer success," Subrahmanyam said in the release. "Together, we can accelerate the development of next-generation diagnostic and repair technologies while delivering even greater value, support, and expertise to our customers.”
