A Boston-area mother received the keys to a fully refurbished 2018 Hyundai Sonata, thanks to a collaboration between the National Auto Body Council (NABC) Recycled Rides program, GEICO and Danilchuk Auto Body.
Jazzmine Williams, a behavioral therapist and single mother raising a teenage daughter, was presented with the vehicle during a special ceremony at Danilchuk Auto Body in East Boston. Williams, who works with autistic children, had been relying on ride shares after her previous vehicle broke down two years ago, making it difficult to save for a replacement.
With no access to public transportation, Williams will be able to increase her working hours and reduce daily expenses thanks to the donated car. Most importantly, the vehicle will allow her to have more quality time with her daughter.
Williams was nominated by the Boston-based nonprofit Women’s Money Matters, which empowers women and girls through financial literacy. She participated in the program and has passed on those lessons to her daughter.
GEICO, the donor of the vehicle, is the largest contributor to the NABC Recycled Rides initiative, having donated more than 1,000 vehicles to date. Danilchuk Auto Body — a family-owned shop operating in Boston for nearly 40 years — partnered to refurbish the vehicle.
Since launching in 2007, the NABC Recycled Rides program has provided more than 3,500 vehicles to individuals and families in need, with an estimated value exceeding $51 million. The program brings together partners across the collision repair industry to restore and donate reliable transportation to those facing hardship.
Additional supporters of this donation included Calibra Calibrations, Todisco Towing, D and M Auto Doctor, Kemperle, Parts Authority, Carmela’s Market, Balloon City, Orient Heights Yacht Club, Advanced Remarketing Services, Cars for Charity, Copart and Enterprise.
