Automakers Report Mixed Results of October New-Vehicle Sales

Several brands reported a year over year decrease in sales compared to October 2024.

Automakers began releasing October sales results Nov. 3, in several cases confirming some analysts’ predictions that the sales pace would slow after electric vehicle demand waned with the end of federal purchase incentives on Sept. 30.

Honda

American Honda sales totaled 111,095 units in October, keeping year-to-date sales up 3.6% despite changing market conditions.

The Honda brand totaled 100,030 in October sales — surpassing the 1 million mark in the 10th month of the year — up 3.8% year to date, with strong sales across the lineup, including passenger cars, light trucks and electrified models.

Led by record October sales of the all-new Passport, Honda light truck sales posted their ninth straight month over 65,000 units.

Honda passenger car sales totaled 32,303 units, including 17,907 Civics and 14,396 Accords, Hybrid models represented more than 36% of Civic sales and more than 44% of Accord sales.

Honda October sales of electrified vehicles totaled 30,471 units — 30.5% of brand sales, setting a new record for the month.

Acura brand sales totaled 11,065 units in October, with 2025 sales up 2.2% year to date, topping 110,000 units.

Hyundai

Hyundai Motor America reported October sales of 70,118 units, a 2% decrease compared with October 2024.

Hybrid and electrified sales reached new heights, jumping 41% and 8% respectively compared to October 2024.

Best-ever October model results include Sonata HEV, Elantra N, Elantra HEV, Tucson Family and the Santa Fe Family, which rose 22, driven by strong hybrid demand. The Palisade lineup achieved its best October ever, totaling 9,549 units, including the start of Palisade HEV sales. Electrified vehicle sales represented 32% of retail mix.

Kia

Kia America delivered best October sales with a total of 69,002 units, setting Kia firmly on pace to deliver all-time best annual volume for the third straight year. This upward trajectory continues to be driven by retail sales at Kia dealerships with an 8% year-to-date gain over 2024. Kia has sold 705,150 units in 2025, marking an 8% increase in sales year-to-date.

Five Kia models — Niro (+75%), Carnival (+35%), K5 (+31%), Seltos (+32%) and Sportage (+17%) — posted notable year-over-year October increases, with Carnival, Sportage and K5 each setting new October sales records. Sales of Kia's electrified models (+16%) and SUVs (+2%) increased over the same period last year.

Mazda

Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) reported total October sales of 25,161 vehicles, a decrease of 32.6% compared to October 2024. Year-to-date sales totaled 344,825 vehicles sold, a decrease of 1.7% compared to the same time last year. With 27 selling days in October, compared to the same the year prior, the company posted a decrease of 32.6% on a Daily Selling Rate (DSR) basis.

Certified pre-owned sales totaled 6,177 vehicles in October, an increase of 2.5% compared to October 2024. Year-to-date sales totaled 62,700, an increase of 0.3% compared to the same time last year.

Subaru

Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA) reported 51,036 vehicle sales for October 2025 and year-to-date sales of 534,073, a 2.6% decrease.

In October, Crosstrek remained the top seller for the sixth consecutive month, achieving its best October ever with 16,284 vehicles sold, a 2.2% increase over the same month in 2024. Outback followed with 13,441 vehicles sold, and Forester sold 12,769 vehicles.
