Brandon Eckenrode, executive director of the Collision Repair Education Foundation, sat down with Raven Luna, discipline lead/professor of collision technology at Collin College in Texas, and Joseph Amabile, auto collision technology instructor at Thomas A. Edison Career & Technical Academy (TECTA) in New Jersey.
Before going into teaching, Luna worked in a shop as a painter, and Amabile worked in and then owned a shop for 17 years.
They offered insight on how they are putting a spotlight on the collision repair industry for young people thinking about viable career paths, to recruit them for their training programs.
They also shared how industry members can get involved with and support their local high and post-secondary schools’ programs, and how the relationship goes both ways, as they help connect students to employers.
