Tesla limits approved wheel repairs on 2025+ Model Y
Tesla's collision repair procedures for the 2025+ Model Y set narrow limits on wheel repairability, according to documentation recently added on OEM1Stop. Tesla does not approve reconditioned wheels or chrome-plated original equipment wheels, and prohibits welding, crack repair, straightening, bending, machining, and chrome plating on its wheels.
Tesla warns those processes may affect the wheel's structure and cause sudden failure. The procedure also calls for masking the mounting surfaces, lug nut contact surfaces, and pilot hole before refinishing.
Chrysler recalls Pacifica PHEVs over battery fire risk
Chrysler is recalling 17,277 model year 2020-2022 Pacifica plug-in hybrids whose high-voltage battery may fail internally and lead to thermal runaway, according to the NHTSA filing under campaign 26V362. The affected vehicles were built with cells from an alternative LG Energy Solution assembly line, and Chrysler has logged four battery fires since August 2023 with no reported injuries.
The filing carries a "Do Not Drive, Park Outside" advisory, and Chrysler is telling owners not to recharge and to park away from structures until repaired. The remedy is updated battery pack control module software plus battery pack replacement if needed.
Affected vehicles arriving for collision work carry an active fire risk tied to the high-voltage battery, particularly given the no-charge advisory in effect until the remedy is complete.
Stellantis begins road testing solid-state batteries
Stellantis has integrated Factorial's solid-state battery cells into a Dodge Charger Daytona development vehicle and launched road testing, the company announced June 11. Stellantis called it the first automotive integration of the technology in North America, built on cells that showed 375 Wh/kg energy density in 2025 testing.
The milestone is a development step, not a production vehicle. Solid-state chemistry carries different thermal and mechanical properties than current lithium-ion packs, a shift worth tracking for shops handling high-voltage vehicles as the technology nears production.
