U.S. News & World Report announced it 2024 Best Cars for the Money awards, showcasing an array of vehicles in 11 categories excelling in quality and value.
"The Best Car for the Money winners represent vehicles that provide an excellent ownership experience and excel when it comes to long-term value," said Liz Opsitnik, executive editor of U.S. News.
Leading the pack, Honda and Kia each clinched four awards across various categories. The Honda Civic and Odyssey and Kia Soul continued their winning streaks in their respective categories.
New this year is the Best Plug-In Hybrid SUV category, with the 2024 Kia Sportage PHEV emerging as the inaugural winner.
Hyundai secured three awards. The Hyundai IONIQ 5 earned its first win in the Electric SUV class, attributed to its advanced technology features, spacious interior and competitive estimated five-year ownership costs.
The list of winners is diverse, ranging from the 2024 Honda Civic, acclaimed as the Best Compact Car for the Money, to the 2024 Kia Telluride, taking the top spot as the Best 3-Row SUV for the Money. Each award recipient has been recognized for their optimal combination of quality and value within their class.
U.S. News bases its quality assessment on the vehicle's overall score in the U.S. News Best Car Rankings, considering safety and reliability data, as well as opinions from the automotive press. Value is measured by examining transaction price data and projected five-year ownership costs.
