A single mother from the Boston area received a life-changing gift July 9 — a fully refurbished 2019 Honda Civic — through the National Auto Body Council’s (NABC) Recycled Rides program, thanks to a partnership between Travelers, CARSTAR Waldron’s A-1 Auto Body and several supporting organizations.
Leilani Rojas, nominated by Family Promise Metrowest, is a massage therapy manager and single parent of two. Her work commute had been both difficult and costly, relying on rideshares that consumed much of her income. Now, with her own vehicle, Rojas said she can better support her family and provide her children with access to community activities.
“I can’t believe this car is mine,” said Rojas. “I feel like it is a rental. I am so grateful to everyone that helped make this dream come true for me and my family.”
The vehicle was donated by Travelers, a Level One member of NABC, and refurbished by I-CAR Gold Class-certified CARSTAR Waldron’s A-1 Auto Body in Lancaster, MA. Additional program partners included Sullivan Tire and Auto Service, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Advanced Remarketing Services, Cars for Charity, Copart and Enterprise.
“We are fortunate that we are in a position to give that little extra to change someone’s life, and that is what it is all about,” said Bob Waldron, owner of CARSTAR Waldron’s A-1 Auto Body. “I commend our team members, who volunteered their time to refurbish this car.”
Since launching in 2007, the NABC Recycled Rides program has donated more than 3,500 vehicles worth an estimated $51 million to individuals and families in need across the U.S. Travelers has contributed hundreds of those vehicles, while CARSTAR Waldron’s is a frequent contributor and an active supporter of the program’s mission.
