A mother of two in the greater Boston area is now the proud owner of a refurbished 2016 Honda CR-V, thanks to a donation from GEICO and Susi Auto Body through the National Auto Body Council’s (NABC) Recycled Rides program.
Juana Castillo and her family have long struggled with the lack of reliable transportation, limiting access to essential services for her physically disabled adult daughter. With the donated vehicle, Castillo’s daughter, who is capable of working and participating in disability-based programs, can now travel independently. The car will also benefit Castillo’s younger daughter and elderly mother, who all live together in a three-generation household.
The fully refurbished vehicle was presented by GEICO, the largest vehicle donor to the NABC Recycled Rides program, and Susi Auto Body, an I-CAR Gold Certified facility serving the Boston area for more than five decades. Susi Auto Body technicians completed the vehicle’s restoration.
GEICO has donated more than 1,000 vehicles to the Recycled Rides initiative since its inception, and is currently a Level One partner of the NABC. The Recycled Rides program brings together businesses from across the collision repair industry to repair and donate vehicles to individuals and families in need. Since 2007, more than 3,500 vehicles, valued at roughly $51 million, have been donated.
Additional partners involved in the presentation included Enterprise, Advanced Remarketing Services, Cars for Charity and Copart.
