asTech recently announced the introduction of Connected Calibrations, an enhancement for its adasThink product designed to simplify ADAS calibration management for collision repair facilities.
“Connected Calibrations is going to fill a critical gap with visibility and accountability for our shops,” Nikki VanderSchaaff, vice president of product engineering for asTech, told Autobody News.
adasThink identifies necessary ADAS calibrations, but Connected Calibrations will ensure they are completed. It does so by integrating adasThink directly into the repair order submission process, automatically surfacing required calibrations and providing estimators with a real-time dashboard to track every step — from the initial estimate to completed calibration.
With built-in notifications when a calibration is not ordered, shops gain greater visibility, ensure nothing is missed, and capture more revenue opportunities.
VanderSchaaff said Connected Calibrations gives “real-time insight into the workflow,” so estimators can ensure required calibrations are completed while the repair is still in process — before it becomes a potential profitability or liability issue for the shop when the vehicle is delivered to the customer.
It’s “reducing any risks of putting vehicles back out on the road without all of the required operations being completed,” she said.
It also “closes the gap” for car-side technicians who don’t have access to the adasThink report while working on the vehicle, VanderSchaaff said. “Integrating these results directly into the repair order submission process…streamlines it for them, so they don't miss any of those opportunities.”
Connected Calibrations was developed in response to customers who asked for such a solution.
“As vehicle repairs are becoming increasingly more complex, they needed a way to easily identify those required opportunities, to bring it into that workflow,” VanderSchaaff said. “This way, it's right there for that car-side technician, allowing them to see the results as they submit. And then for our estimator, they also have that real-time dashboard, so that they can track everything that they're working on in one view.”
Connected Calibrations is still in testing, but will be ready for demonstration at asTech’s booth at the 2025 SEMA Show, set for Nov. 4-7 in Las Vegas.
“We're really excited to have this feature out there and starting the testing, and showing everybody at SEMA,” she added.
