Toyota Invests $531M, Adds 400 Jobs in San Antonio Facility Expansion

A new 500,000-square-foot facility dedicated to drivetrain parts production will use advanced manufacturing technologies.

Toyota Texas is investing $531 million to expand its operations in San Antonio, constructing of a new 500,000-square-foot facility dedicated to drivetrain parts production and creating more than 400 new jobs.

"Our team members are ready for this new opportunity to grow our plant’s capabilities and workforce," said Susann Kazunas, president of Toyota Texas. "They are highly capable, innovative and have a steadfast commitment to our products. We are proud to celebrate that spirit and the long-term job stability the investment represents, and we are excited to welcome 400 new team members to Toyota Texas."

This latest investment brings Toyota’s total outlay in the San Antonio plant to more than $4.7 billion since its inception nearly two decades ago. The plant, which assembled more than 181,000 vehicles last year, is the exclusive home of the Tundra truck and all-hybrid Sequoia SUV, both produced on the same line.

The expansion also includes Toyota’s adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies, enhancing the plant’s flexibility and capability within its North American operations.
