Law raises service and storage charges

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed into law bill AB 1575 (Richardson) which increases what a repair shop may charge a finance company for services and storage. Auto repair shops occasionally are faced with the situation where the customer does not pay the repair bill.

    Most collision repair shops wouldn’t think of letting customers leave with their vehicle without paying. At Keenan Auto Body, it’s starting to happen more often – which is just fine, according to Michael LeVasseur, vice president and chief operating officer of the 7-shop company in the Philadelphia area.
