Record-Breaking DRIVE EXPO WEST 2019 Features Awards Ceremony

Held on Sept. 27-29, DRIVE EXPO WEST 2019 boasted a record number of industry professionals and sponsors, providing an opportunity for hundreds of shop owners and automotive aftermarket executives to network and receive valuable industry education.

DRIVE CEO Bill Kilpatrick stated, “September’s EXPO offered the management tools for each DRIVE client that they need to succeed. A key component of each EXPO is creating an environment where shop owners can meet and exchange ideas with other owners. This is unlike any other industry event.”


The event took place at the Sheraton Fairplex Hotel and Conference Center in Pomona, CA, and featured a keynote presentation by Chris Chesney of Advance Auto Parts.


During the EXPO Awards dinner, DRIVE celebrated shops that have exceeded predefined benchmarks for productivity and efficiency. In addition to recognizing the recipients of the Effective Shop Manager Award and the Competent Shop Owner Award, DRIVE honored five shops for their efficiency, stability and profitability with the highly coveted and extremely difficult to achieve honor: the Master of Shop Management Award.


The 2019 Master of Shop Management honorees were Dennis and Sherry Goodhue of Diamond G Repair in Montrose, CO; Dave Bloom of Pine Aire Truck Service in Bay Shore, NY; Brandan and Kelsey Lancaster of Performance Automotive Repair in Bayfield, CO; Deanna Cole-Eure and Wes Cole of Cole’s Service Center in Vancleave, MS; and James and Malesia Spires of O.T.R.A. Roadside Services, Inc. in Cleburne, Texas.


DRIVE EXPO WEST 2019 also included a discussion about a strategic and important alliance between DRIVE and AAA. Additionally, Kilpatrick announced that he will personally teach two workshops next year. “I’ve created these two DRIVE workshops to address the specific needs of our clients who want to gain the skills and confidence to train their team to make a huge impact on their shop’s growth and success,” Kilpatrick stated.


Both of the workshops will be presented over the course of two days in 2020. Kilpatrick will present “How to Train Your Team” on Feb. 24 and 25, and “How to Master Training” will be offered on April 20 and 21.
