On Aug. 22, the Young Auto Care Network Group (YANG) held a regional meet-up event at Seasons 52, a restaurant in Houston.

The meeting was sponsored by XL Parts along with a supplier partner, Motorcraft. According to Jeremy Fisher, director of marketing for XL Parts and an active YANG member, “The event went well! The attendees seemed to have a great time. For many of the attendees, it was their first event. We had a great turn out, and everyone had ample time to network.”

“Our goal was to host an event where people in our industry could get together and network,” Fisher continued. “The group consisted of some employees from my company, as well as members from suppliers, distributors, and service companies. Some of the time was spent getting to know each other - where we were from and our backgrounds, which led to finding similarities and tied into how our work overlaps and how we could learn and benefit each other.”

Several industry executives attended the networking event to share insights into the industry. According to Fisher, “They expressed that getting involved in the industry is very important because this group is part of the new wave of industry professionals. It was great to have that type of support. Younger people in our industry need to know that it’s a great industry, a unique industry with a lot of great people, and that it’s a place where you can build a career. It allows them to get exposure and meet like-minded people from various levels of the supply chain. It’s always great to learn from others and hear their perspectives.”

Attendees expressed the desire for YANG to host more frequent networking events in the Houston area. For more information about YANG and its future events, visit autocare.org/yang.
