Offering innovative training and management solutions with state-of-the-art technology, the DRIVE Expo delivered on its promise of a unique learning experience for shop owners.
According to DRIVE CEO Bill Kilpatrick, “The DRIVE Expo provides opportunities to network with like-minded shop owners and industry influencers. Workshops provide a valuable and unique leadership experience and an opportunity to work with other shops.”
The weekend of training began on Friday with a highly anticipated general session, followed by breakout training specific to each segment---general repair, collision and heavy-duty truck. The EXPO hall opened on Friday from noon through 6 p.m., and the evening concluded with an awards banquet.
Featuring a full day of training, Saturday offered a variety of management topics with expert guest speakers from companies such as Meritor, asTech and SCRS, to name a few. Favorites included “What’s the Real Reason Behind Common Shop Issues” and “You’re the Boss, But Are You A Leader?” as well as “Creating the Ideal Technician,” presented by Kyle Holt of S/P2 on the topic of employee training and retention.
Holt shared, “The DRIVE EXPO is always an important industry event. The Savannah convention was very successful, and I always enjoy talking directly with shop owners from across the country.”
Jim Goepfrich of DRIVE also delivered several seminars, including the popular “Well-Trained Employee Equals a Happy and Productive Team.”
Goepfrich added, “If your shop’s team is happy and productive, that means better results for the shop’s bottom line. Management skills are a key component to any successful shop and are at the heart of the DRIVE business model.”
The EXPO hall was open all day on Saturday, leading up to the highly anticipated Theme Night party for all attendees.
Sunday featured a high-energy interactive workshop on team-building and communication skills.
Kilpatrick noted, “We seek to improve not only every independent repair business, but the community and the industry as a whole.”
DRIVE Expo West will be held at the Sheraton FairPlex in Pomona, CA, from Sept. 27--29.
