During the last week of August, the Independent Garage Owners of North Carolina (IGONC) hosted a series of free training opportunities around the state, featuring Rick White of 180BIZ and Kukui Corporation’s Jimmy Lea.

According to IGONC Executive Director Bob Pulverenti, “The events went well, and we look forward to planning the next round of trainings. Our August training sessions were well received by our members who are always looking for new ways to grow their businesses and make customers happy.”

 

In August, IGONC rotated topics every other night. This round of classes was led by White who taught both “Filling the Service Bays” and “Top Ten Sales Mistakes (and How to Avoid Them),” in addition to guest presenter Lea of who focused on “You Can’t Manage What You Don’t Measure.” 

 

Pulverenti continued, “We like to hold regular training opportunities around the state to keep them accessible to all of our members. We also plan them within about an hour of each other so folks can attend both within a reasonable drive. We hold these meetings to make information on running a shop more accessible to our members who may not be able to close down their shop and travel, but still want information on how to run and grow their business.”

 

White described “Top Ten Sales Mistakes and How to Avoid Them”: “For years I’ve been saying, ‘We’re an industry that makes sales in spite of ourselves.’ Shop owners all over the country keep telling me that they need more cars. These same shop owners are shocked when I show them how much money they’re missing out on with the cars they have in their bays right now. So what’s the issue? This fast, fun webinar recording identifies the top ten sales mistakes being made by the front counter salespeople every day and what to do to turn those situations around. “Top Ten Sales Mistakes and How to Avoid Them” was presented on Aug. 26 at the Holiday Inn Express in Roanoke Rapids, NC, and on Aug. 29 at the Country Inn & Suites in Wilmington, NC.
