On June 8, the Auto Body Association of Texas (ABAT) hosted its 3rd Annual Skeet Shoot at Elm Fork Shooting Sports in Dallas.

According to ABAT Executive Director Jill Tuggle, “The event was wonderful. We had great attendance; everyone enjoyed shooting. The raffle prizes were a hit. We raffled off two guns and tons of outdoor sports and hunting equipment. Attendees said this was the best skeet shoot we have had so far. They said the camaraderie and pace of the day was perfect. We are getting better and better at this every year, and it is really starting to become like a well-oiled machine.”

ABAT President Burl Richards added, “Everyone enjoyed the atmosphere and had a great time. We discussed the agenda of ABAT for 2019 and updated everyone on our Legislative Efforts, our upcoming trade show in September and our goals going forward. Jill should get a lot of credit for coming up with the idea and implementing it. We have a select group of Board Members that really help put this on, and they should be commended as well.”

In addition to serving as a fundraiser for ABAT, the annual skeet shoot provided “an opportunity to bring guests from other shops that may not be members in order to show them what ABAT is about,” Richards said. “It allows the sponsors to have a closer relationship and an opportunity to spend time with customers and the industry in general, and it promotes positive and educational information for everyone.”

Tuggle noted, “Association-sponsored events are important in addition to our usual educational program because they bring a little fun and excitement to the industry. It is a great time to network and fellowship with one another in a laid-back environment.”

ABAT is looking forward to the 2019 Texas Auto Body Trade Show, scheduled for September 20-21. An increase in attendance is anticipated this year with new speakers and vendors to enhance the educational value of the event. For more information on ABAT and its events, visit abat.us.
