HABA Protests Unfair Franchise Tax Margins

In a letter regarding franchise tax margins for dealer-owned body shops versus independently-owned shops, the Houston Auto Body Association protested the “unfair” margin.

The Northwest Louisiana Collision Repair Association met Nov. 6 for its last meeting of the year at the Country Tavern. The association hosted guest speaker Sgt. Shoemaker, the assistant coordinator for the Bossier City “Marine Toys for Tots” program. A donation of a new, unwrapped toy will be accepted at the annual NWLCRA Christmas Party.

HABA on Texas’ Consumer Bill of Rights

The Houston Auto Body Association  (HABA) met Nov. 13 at Mossy Nissan in Houston, TX, to discuss comments from the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) hearing concerning proposed changes to the Consumer Bill of Rights as well as the actual approved language to the Consumer Bill of Rights, according to James Brown, HABA President.

The Texas Independent Automotive Association continues to grow with new members regularly joining, according to Hunter Hooge, Membership Director. The association recently started their San Antonio collision-specific chapter, which has about 20 members.

ASA Speaks to NWLCRA Regarding PartsTrader Pilot

Denise Caspersen, manager of the Automotive Service Association's collision division, recently attended a Northwest Louisiana Collision Repair Association (NWLCRA) meeting to present to its members the ‘facts to date’ regarding the State Farm electronic parts ordering application.

Regulators announced in May that the Texas Automobile Insurance Plan Association (TAIPA), the state-run coverage program for high-risk motorists, would be increasing overall rates by 24.1 percent.
