Professionals Auto Body in Pennsylvania Hosts SkillsUSA Competition

Twelve aspiring collision repair students from across the region met at Professionals Auto Body in Altoona, PA, for the SkillsUSA District 7 Skill and Leadership Championships.

The students competed in three areas of the collision repair process: repair estimating, refinishing and repair work, including welding.


During the day, other career and technology competitions were held at various locations and the Blair County Convention Center. The competitions included collision repair, carpentry, commercial baking, HVAC, cosmetology and other trades.


"It's great to see kids come from all over the district and see how they compete," said Brandon Hoover, collision repair instructor at the Greater Altoona CTC.


Around 300 students gathered to compete in SkillsUSA's District 7 Skill and Leadership Championships. The collision repair portion of the competition took place at Professionals Auto Body.


"We wanted to pick a place like Professionals Auto Body because it ranks as one of the premier shops in the area, and that's where we want to send our kids; we want them to work at the best and learn from the best," Hoover said.
