Marlborough, MA, Girl Scouts teamed up with Al Brodeur’s Auto Body to host a successful food drive to benefit the city’s food pantry, the Community Cupboard

Residents drove up to Brodeur’s, and Service Unit Coordinator Bonny Goldberg retrieved the groceries out of people’s trunks, along with Membership Coordinator Kyla Leconti.

“We normally put door hangers on residents’ homes to notify them of the food drive, but this year we had to create a system where there would be no contact for the people dropping off the food,” Goldberg said.

Molly Nesbitt, owner of Brodeur’s Auto Body, said, “Our property here on South Street can handle the many vehicles that will be donating food, and then be delivered to the Marlborough Community Cupboard.”

The circular driveway allowed the cars to seamlessly navigate around the lot to make for a productive and safe event. The drive started at 9 a.m. and within minutes, bags and bags of food were flowing into the parking area, keeping helpers busy.

Teresa Martinez, who volunteered along with her Girl Scout daughter, Rosie, said, “This is a great event to help families especially at this time of year.”
