From April 1--3, the Refinish Distributors Alliance (RDA) hosted its Spring 2019 RDA IMPACT Performance Conference at the OMNI Frisco in Frisco, TX.

More than 100 RDA members, manufacturer partners and guests were in attendance, making this the second consecutive meeting where every participating RDA member and manufacturer partner was represented.

Robert McKenzie Jr., executive director of RDA, noted, “We would like to thank all of our manufacturer partners who sponsored this event and helped make it such a success.”

In addition to a couple of optional early bird meetings, Monday included an opportunity for interested members to meet individually with John Halstead, RDA director of business development, to discuss benchmarking and other related topics. On Monday morning, Axalta also offered a standing room only informational workshop for RDA member distributors.

The main event kicked off on Monday afternoon with Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney welcoming RDA to his city. He was followed by keynote speaker Chip Eichelberger’s presentation on “Reevaluating and Recharging: Being Your Best Consistently.” The first day of the conference concluded with a poolside welcome reception at The Edge on the OMNI’s roof.

Tuesday was a busy day, beginning with RDA’s third annual member/manufacturer all-day speed dating style event, “The Huddles.”

According to McKenzie, “Manufacturers made offers, and members came prepared to respond, resulting in a fun and productive time for everyone. Our manufacturer partners offered special promotions and prizes throughout the event.”

During a break from The Huddles, Eichelberger presented “Breaking Barriers” before lunch, which consisted of exciting personal motivational activities, including breaking a pine board by hand. Eichelberger also signed copies of his book, “The Smart Guide to Accomplishing Your Goals.”

After lunch, The Huddles continued until late afternoon when the group was treated to a private VIP tour of the Cowboys’ training facility, The Star, which is adjacent to the OMNI. After the tour, conference participants enjoyed dinner at the hotel, along with an evening of entertainment from hypnotist Erick Kand.

The final day of the conference, open to members only, began with a well-received data collection and Q&A session, facilitated by RDA’s John Halstead. Next, Steve Zelechoski of Corporate Visions presented “Why You?” a follow-up to the “Why Change?” workshop he delivered during RDA’s Fall 2018 IMPACT Performance Conference in Louisville, KY. The meeting concluded with a Treasurer’s Report by Josh Byers and a discussion of several important member topics with Melissa Jolls.

McKenzie stated, “RDA would like to thank all our members who attended this event and extend special appreciation to M/C Michael Coran of Kemperle and Josh Byers of Automotive Color, who ran the RDA Board Meeting and facilitated day-three sessions. Both did an excellent job filling in since I was unable to attend.

“RDA/IMPACT is the largest national group of refinish jobbers dedicated to providing quality services and products to our collision shops. RDA has 17 members, representing over 300 locations. Members service over 4,000 collision centers throughout the United States. We represent a cross-section of all major refinish brands and do over $500 million in sales as a group, comprising around 18 percent of the refinish business nationwide.”
