In partnership with the Collision Repair Education Foundation (CREF) and famed custom car builder Ringbrothers, Global Finishing Solutions (GFS) announced more than $13,000 was raised last month in a helicopter golf ball drop fundraiser.

“The funds will go to four collision repair education programs in Wisconsin, for purchasing tools, equipment and supplies that some of these programs cannot afford,” said Brandon Eckenrode, managing director of CREF.

By partnering with CREF and Ringbrothers, GFS helped generate awareness, raise funds and meet the needs of aspiring technicians in the collision repair industry.

“This fundraiser was so important to us because there is a need for qualified technicians,” said Jim Faragher, president of GFS. “It was an exciting opportunity for us to give back to an industry that we support and to invest in future technicians.”

On Oct. 27, Mike Ring of Ringbrothers, Eckenrode, collision repair students and instructors and GFS employees gathered at GFS’ headquarters in Osseo, WI, to drop 600 golf balls out of a helicopter onto a target. Four prizes were awarded, ranging from $500 to $2,000.

Following the event, collision repair students stayed for a meet and greet with Ring, as well as a tour of GFS’ facilities and equipment demonstrations at GFS’ Center for Excellence training facility.

“We want to get young people involved in our industry,” said Ring. “By bringing high-end builds and cars that they don’t normally see on the street, we wanted to show these students why people get into this industry. It’s not just for the money but for the passion for cars.”
