St. Louis I-CAR Committee Lays Out Plans for Biggest Job Fair Yet

Written by

The St. Louis I-CAR Committee met at Ranken Technical College on Sept. 12 for their final preparations before the Gateway Automotive and Collision Job Fair on Sept. 27.

The majority of members were in attendance, and “the meeting went well,” according to Chair Shelly Jones.

Jones updated attendees on the St. Louis I-CAR Committee’s progress in regards to the committee goals provided by I-CAR, noting that the group is still on track to make Gold Class for 2019. Committee Education Coordinator and Job Fair Lead Gene Slattery delivered an update on the imminent job fair. Jones recounted, “We anticipate 900 automotive and collision students from MO & IL schools to attend this year. Our members and committee members from other cities have volunteered to set up and run this event.”

“I'm proud of the St. Louis I-CAR committee for pulling together to make this job fair our biggest yet. We are reaching and interacting with more schools each year, and we couldn't do this without our members, volunteers, partners, CREF and I-CAR,” Jones continued. “Gene Slattery and Doug Slattery from ATI also deserve a special ‘thanks.’ Gene spends countless hours communicating and planning to make this a success. He is dedicated to bringing schools and industries together for the benefit of all. Doug is our partner (sponsor) liaison and handles the budget. They have kept us organized and on task year after year.”
