La Trice Vanderford and Anthony Armstead filed a complaint Jan. 30 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Leon Austin, doing business as LA Customs Auto Body, alleging violation of the Illinois Consumer Fraud Act.
According to the complaint, in 2018 Vanderford and Armstead contracted LA Customs to perform repairs on their damaged 2018 GMC SUV for $4,500. They allege the defendant failed and refused to complete the repairs pursuant to the agreement, causing the plaintiffs to suffer damages.
Vanderford and Armstead seek trial by jury, compensatory damages in excess of $5,500, plus additional punitive damages of more than $50,000 and court costs. They are represented by attorney David Duree of David M. Duree & Association PC in O'Fallon.
