Omaha, NE, Marine Veteran Surprised With New Wheels

Written by Steffani Nolte, KMTV 3 News Now

CARSTAR Auto Body gave an Omaha Marine veteran an early Christmas gift on Dec. 6---the keys to a 2008 Honda Accord.

Howard Perry is a University of Nebraska-Omaha student and father of three.  He has been borrowing cars from friends to get to school and work.

Perry said this is one of the greatest things that has happened to him in his life.

"If this [had not] happened, there is a good chance my lifestyle would have dramatically changed,” Perry said. “If you don't have a way to get to work, they're not going to keep you employed.”

State Farm donated the salvaged vehicle to CARSTAR through the Recycled Rides Program. It’s a community service project that teams body shops with insurance companies to fix old cars and give them to deserving people.
