AASP-MO’s Gateway Collision Chapter held its bimonthly meeting on Nov. 13 at Syberg’s Dorsett in Maryland Heights, MO, featuring a presentation entitled “Generation Z: Who are kids these days?” with Kevin Andert, manager of college and career readiness for North and South Technical High Schools, St. Louis Special School District.

“Kevin did an excellent job of explaining how the minds of the newest generation entering the workforce operate, such as what does and does not motivate them and what culture they are seeking in a work environment,” said AASP-MO Executive Director Ron Reiling. “This is the first time we have had five generations in the workforce at the same time. Gen Z is the newest generation and our future employees. Thank you, Kevin, for your insights!”

During his presentation, Andert explored how to prepare for the new generation on the rise in the workforce, Gen Z, when many have only begun to understand millennials. He provided an in-depth overview of Gen Z as well as “tips and strategies for successfully recruiting, retaining and integrating this new talent into your organization,” Reiling shared.

“Over 20 attendees felt that this was time well spent, and the information they took away, combined with the camaraderie with their fellow automotive service professionals, made for a great evening,” Reiling said. “We would have liked to see more people turn out to take advantage of this great opportunity; no individual shop can possibly know as much as all of us working together.”

AASP-MO is grateful to Doug and Gene Slattery of ATI for sponsoring the meeting. For more information about AASP-MO and its events, visit aasp-mo.org.
