Documentary on Herzog Motorsports Founders to Premiere Sept. 26

“Patrons of Horsepower,” a one-hour documentary on the history of Herzog Motorsports and founders Stanley and Randy Herzog, with support from father Bill, will premiere at noon ET Sept. 26 on FoxSports 1.

It will re-air on both Fox Sports 1 and 2 throughout the last week of September and Oct. 1. Check your local listings for air dates and times.


Produced by veteran motorsports broadcaster Rick Benjamin, excerpts from the special will be shown during the private gala scheduled Oct. 15 at the Speedway Motors Museum of American Speed in Lincoln, NE.


The gala will help kick off a long-term display at the Museum of the iconic cars and trucks that raced under the Herzog Motorsports banner in the 1980s through the 2000s. The team competed in SCORE, CORR, SODA, NHRA Funny Car and the Baja 1000 and Pikes Peak International Hillclimb.


Despite losing the last remaining member of the Herzog family, Randy, on Aug. 24, to pancreatic cancer, plans are continuing for the gathering of Herzog Motorsports drivers, friends and colleagues, to help honor the family that had been held in such high regard for so many years. 


Drivers interviewed for the documentary include Jimmie Johnson, Ricky Johnson, Dave Mason, Danny Ashcraft, Scott Douglas, Larry Ragland, Ryan Arciero, Todd Bodine and Cruz and Tony Pedregon, along with other icons of the sport.
