Overall travel for the month is estimated to be 262.4 billion vehicle miles. Cumulative travel for the year went down by 15.7%, or 297.2 billion vehicle miles, to an estimated 1,593.2 billion vehicle miles of travel.
On a year-over-year basis, all regions saw decreases in miles driven. The Northeast region had the largest decrease, as its percentage went down by 15.4%. The South-Atlantic region had the next highest percentage decrease in its miles driven, as it went down by 11.3%. The South-Gulf region had a decrease of 10.8% when compared to the same time period last year. The West region wasn’t too far behind the South-Atlantic region, as it went down by 10.4%. The North-Central region went down by 9.7%.
