ASA-Texas named ASA affiliate of the year

During the Automotive Service Association’s recent Celebration of Excellence awards ceremony in Nashville, Tenn., ASA presented its Affiliate of the Year Award to ASA-Texas for its outstanding accomplishments across a broad range of categories. ASA-Texas was selected for its excellence in membership growth, educational events, participation in ASA national programs, legislative activity and overall contributions of its membership to the automotive service industry.
B.J. Johnson, director of membership and affiliate relations, presented the award to Charles Parker, executive director of ASA-Texas; and Glenn Young, AAM, immediate past president of ASA-Texas and owner of Young’s Automotive Center, Houston, Texas.
“The volunteer leadership, members and staff of ASA-Texas have set their sights on increasing membership and improving the automotive service and repair industry’s image in the state,’ Johnson said. “Through educational sessions held around the state, members were updated on the affiliate’s legislative activities, provided technical and management training, and given the opportunity to provide input into the affiliate’s structure. As a member-driven organization, at all levels, ASA-Texas excels at providing its affiliate members a valuable return on their dues investment. I congratulate ASA-Texas on its accomplishments.”
Guidelines for Affiliate of the Year were sent to each affiliate last year and are designed to take into account the size of each group to ensure each has an equal opportunity to win the award.
This was the third installment of ASA’s Celebration of Excellence awards dinner and ceremony, which was held       at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center. The annual awards ceremony honors the achievements of ASA members and industry partners. The next Celebration of Excellence will be held during the ASA Annual Convention May 1-3, 2008, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Santa Clara, Calif.
