“Our business is 56 years old, we’re a family business that is in its third generation of ownership,” said Ann.

Ann felt that being a family run business for so many years had allowed the shop to focus more on their craftsmanship and the quality of work turned out by the business.

Roy Rogers’ facility is just under 15,000 square feet in total; 10,000 of that is collision repair area, 3,000 is for paint and the rest is taken by office space. Roy Rogers employs about 12 employees and sees nearly 120 cars per month for all operations. The shop is able to gross just under $2 million annually.

All Roy Rogers technicians are ASE and I-CAR certified; the company focuses heavily on getting their employees as much education and training as possible.

“Most shops around here have no certification; any type of certification or schooling—when we get a chance we try to send our employees to it,” said Thomas Rogers. Both Smith and Rogers felt that having as much education for their employees helped to bolster the shops overall quality and craftsmanship.

Both felt that quality and craftsmanship defined the way they run their business, so sending their employees through as much schooling as possible is considered a necessity for the shop.

Roy Rogers is also a Direct Repair Shop for State Farm Insurance, Progressive and Shelter, though the shop is happy to work with any customer’s insurer.

Employees at Roy Rogers Body Shop try to maintain a 4 day work week. Working 10-hour work days Monday through Thursday enables them to see more customers before and after regular work hours.

Rogers mentioned that the shop was working above and beyond this schedule right after Hurricane Katrina, but is trying to get back to a strictly 4 day work week. Roy Rogers is currently open for a half day on Fridays.     One of the shops painters, Gary “Randall” Gilbert, has been with the shop for over 36 years.

“I’ve been working at the shop for about 40 years and he came on shortly after me; he works hard and does a good job,” said Rogers.

Roy Rogers Body Shop also offers 24/7 towing and windsheild or glass replacement to serve their customers’ every need when it comes to getting cars back to factory condition after a wreck. They offer wrecker service that comes to your site, flatbed towing as well as winch and recovery services.

“We try to have a real good turn around time; get it in, get it out so it’s not here forever,” said Rogers.

The shop also sells truck and Jeep accessories including bedliners, tow hitches, tool boxes and bed covers.

Roy Rogers Body Shop prides themselves on being Jones county’s biggest shop. The shop is equipped with 2 Car-O-liner bench racks, a Chief frame machine, Car-O-liner spot welders and Lincoln Electric welders.

Roy Rogers is spraying AkzoNobel Sikkens basecoats, clearcoats and topcoats.
