Coleman runs a tight ship and manages his business by the numbers. He is an active participant in the Sherwin-Williams “20 Group,” and is a strong proponent of this exercise. “Every business man needs to have people in his circle that he can relate with, to help each other grow,” he said, “Everyone brings their best ideas to the group – I have tried a lot of them – and they work!”
Coleman’s collision repair business savvy, blended with the Gullo Family of Dealership’s principles for success, has brought a new dimension of marketing to this Ford collision center.
Gullo is a FORD Certified Collision Repair Network shop and uses their management and marketing tools. He also serves on the FORD CCRN Advisory Council. “CCRN is a great network with great tools in it,” continued Coleman. He consistently uses the monthly management report and CSI as part of his marketing efforts. “It statistically shows how we really are doing.”
Coleman also offers Continuing Education (CE) classes to area insurance agents. His CE classes have a unique offering. Many of them are held at the “Gullo Family Museum.”
Automotive History
The Gullo Family Museum is behind the family residence in Magnolia, Texas, in a modest looking building – at least from the outside. Inside, guests are treated to a feast of history – old and new. The climate controlled building boasts 160 cars, a movie theater, an original 1950’s soda fountain, pin ball machines, and memorabilia from Gullo’s 30-year automotive career.
“Mr. Gullo has been in love with cars since he was a teenager,” said Coleman smiling. “He has saved cars his whole career.” The museum is a spectacular collection of automobiles with vintage vignettes throughout. The exhibits are one-of-a-kind and represent automotive and American history. Vintage and cutting-edge technology share exhibit space. The 1946 Ford Woodie Station Wagon purchased new by Andy Griffith for $1,553 is under this roof along with the rare Ford Saleen S7 (one of only 5 made).
The most recent group treated to this museum and lunch at the authentic soda fountain was the Checkered Flag 200 group from the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, California.
Coleman manages the Gullo Ford Collision Center and is very connected to the museum. His beginnings with his father in antique car restoration set the path for him to connect with the Gullo family’s love of the automobile. “The first car Mr. Gullo bought – a Model A Ford – is in the museum. It is not restored, so I am sure looking forward to getting it in this shop some day.”
