Panasonic demos new Toughbook models at NACE E-mail
Friday, 01 December 2006

Spectators gasped as Panasonic representatives abused their own product - pouring water on it and tossing it to the concrete. All to prove that the Panasonic Toughbook is just that - a nearly indestructible electronic notebook. Surprisingly lightweight, this laptop works as a wireless remote computer, exhibiting the screen from your desktop while in the shop.

"Using the Toughbook can increase efficiencies in today's collision repair business," stated Panasonic Sales Manager Chris Humphrey. "Remote estimating will increase accuracy and reduce supplements. Your production manager can control scheduling from the shop floor."

Regarding its unique design, Humphrey explained "we have taken a holistic approach. The Toughbook is built from the inside out."

The magnesium case covers the shock-mounted hard drives inside. As it is built for extreme conditions, the Toughbook has a built-in heater and will operate in sub-zero temperatures. To show its durability, liquids were spilled on it. Dropping a unit from a frame rack to a hard concrete floor did not cause any damage.

The high tech-design on the outside edges of the Toughbook is not simply for looks, but acts as the built-in integrated wide air wireless antenna.

Security counts

Toughbooks are as secure as they are rugged. Equipped with a cable lock slot, Trusted Platform Module security chip, and optional fingerprint scanning, the Toughbook safeguards valuable information and can meet increasing data security requirements.

Every Panasonic Toughbook comes with a three-year limited warranty. Visit www.panasonic.com/toughbook for product specifications. For pricing and availability, contact Microtech at 510-531-3582 or 866-369-0235.
