Genuine Ford collision parts that did not make it through Ford's rigorous quality control program because of cosmetic blemishes are now available through select Ford wholesalers. The parts are called Recovered Original Equipment (ROE) parts and are available for Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles.

While the parts have blemishes that make them unusable for new vehicle production or as new genuine Ford replacement products sold by Ford dealers, they are guaranteed to fit and perform like genuine Ford collision parts. The parts typically sell for up to 70% less than the equivalent new genuine Ford part. Ford Customer Service division says that these parts are useful for repair shops that need to meet quotas on the use of alternative parts as set by insurers. At the same time, the repair shop will know that the part will fit correctly because it came off a production run of genuine Ford parts. One dealer now selling the ROE parts is Ford of North Scottsdale in Scottsdale, Arizona. Parts manager Casey Unger spoke with a regular customer, Jan Vesely of Jan's Spectrum Collision, who has used the ROE parts on several jobs and was pleased with them: "It gives us a chance to give our customer a factory fit and finish for the price of an aftermarket part." The parts will typically be available through dealers like Ford of North Scottsdale that specialize in wholesale collision parts. Select dealers in California, Arizona and Nevada are just now joining the ROE program, according FCSD regional parts manager Debra Kohls, and the number of parts available through the ROE program will increase significantly in the coming months. |
