The family now lives in an apartment and Patterson works at Target. Before she received the car, she had to walk, ride the bus or accept rides from friends to get to work. When she worked a late shift, it took two hours to walk home.
The car was presented on Aug. 30 at Ben Clymer’s The Body Shop, 22335 Alessandro Blvd. in Moreno Valley.

Ben Clymer’s Body Shop Helps Family In Need of Car

A single mother of four children needed a car, and several Moreno Valley, CA, businesses came to her aid, including Ben Clymer’s The Body Shop.
Ben Clymer’s The Body Shop partnered with AAA of Southern California Insurance, P&D Wholesale, Martin Auto Color, PPG Paint, Mayor Richard A. Stewart and Community Connect to provide a car for Carol Patterson. The gift came with one year of insurance donated by AAA of Southern California Insurance and a trunk full of groceries.
Applications from families in need of transportation were collected by Community Connect. A team from The Body Shop selected the recipient. Patterson and her children lived in a shelter for two years.
