From Model A door handles to LaSalle chrome grills, the antique car buffs who converged on Andy Hope’s place for his heralded going-out-of-business auction found plenty to get revved up about. Well-known nationally for his work on antique cars, the longtime Tulsa-area auto-body man had built up a mind-boggling collection of old and, in many cases, rare car parts over 25 years. In 1980, with the news that he was retiring and auctioning most of it off, hopeful bidders from across the country came flocking.
