Car-O-Liner Supports Worldskills Calgary 2009 E-mail

Car-O-Liner Company has been named by WorldSkills Calgary 2009 as a Founding Equipment Partner for the 40th WorldSkills Competition September 1–6, 2009.
    Car-O-Liner will be providing a large cross-section of equipment for Skill #13: Autobody Repair at the competition. Along with being named a Founding Equipment Partner, Car-O-Liner will be the Official Sponsor of the Autobody Repair Competition.
    “At Car-O-Liner and its Car-O-Liner Academy there is constant dedication to working closely with education to ensure proper training is provided to everyone in the collision repair industry and it is really important to start at the entry level.
    WorldSkills is always an exciting event and we are very honored to be involved with WorldSkills Calgary 2009.” states Timothy Morgan, Global Director of Technical Training at Car-O-Liner. WorldSkills Calgary 2009 recognizes industry support such as Car-O-Liner’s as crucial in running an event of this size and scope.

    The Autobody Repair competition falls under the Transportation and Logistics skills category. WorldSkills Calgary 2009 features 48 different skills competitions falling under 6 skills categories.
    Approximately 1,000 competitors from 50 countries around the world will be competing for Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in Calgary, September 2009.

WorldSkills Calgary 2009

WorldSkills Calgary 2009 Ltd. is a not-for-profit organization that was established to plan and host the 40th WorldSkills Competition in September 2009. 1,000 competitors from 50 member countries/regions (representing 20 languages) will be participating. Its mission is to engage the passion of Canada’s young people to pursue the trades and technology as viable and rewarding career options.  Nearly 150,000 spectators and 5,000 experts, delegates and judges from around the world will attend the competition. It will require 800,000 square feet of space at Stampede Park. The competitors will be housed and fed at the first ever Competitors’ village located at SAIT Polytechnic. Operating budget is estimated to be $60 million.

About the WorldSkills Competition

The WorldSkills Competition is the biggest skills competition in the world.  The first competition was held in 1950 in Madrid, Spain. Canada last hosted the WorldSkills Competition in Montréal in 1999 at the Olympic Stadium. Every two years, over 1,000 competitors from 49 member countries/regions gather to compete in over 40 skill categories ranging from welding, cooking, autobody repair and landscape gardening to beauty care and web design. The competition attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors including public policy makers, government representatives, employers, teachers, trainers and experts from around the world.
