46 Students Commit to Tech Fields at Chattanooga State in TN

High school graduates from the class of 2018 took advantage of the educational benefits that TN Promise affords by formally committing to technical programs offered through the Tennessee College of Applied Technology during National Signing Day at Chattanooga State Community College on Feb. 15.

This national event, sponsored by the National Coalition of Certification Centers, mirrors the NCAA’s National Signing Day for athletes who commit to playing sports in college. It is designed to celebrate career and technical education opportunities for graduating seniors.


Student commitments have poured in from area high schools, including Soddy-Daisy, Ooltewah, South Pittsburg, Red Bank, East Ridge, Tyner, Sequoyah, Howard, Sequatchie County, Bledsoe County, Bradley Central, Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy, East Hamilton High, Sale Creek, Ivy Academy, Whitwell and Collinwood.


Technical programs selected by this incoming group of students include Aesthetics, Automotive Technology, Barbering, Collision Repair Technology, Computer Support Technician, Cosmetology, Diesel Equipment Technology, Industrial Electricity, HVAC/R Technician, Industrial Maintenance Technician, Machine Tool Technology and Welding Technology.
