When firefighters arrived at the 764 Rutger St. shop, they found heavy smoke coming from all sides of the building.
Extra fire crews were brought in to assist. It took fire crews two hours to have the fire under control.
Utica Fire Deputy Chief Scott Ingersoll said the body shop suffered smoke and fire damage throughout the building.
No injuries were reported in the fire.
Authorities say the body shop is still salvageable.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
