High Standards, Next-Level Service at Neshaminy Collision & Auto Repair in PA

Written by Liz Johnson, Bucks County Courier Times

Josh Cohen of Neshaminy Collision & Auto Repair says his customers have high standards---but his are even higher.

“That’s why they come back to us. And they tell everybody else,” said Cohen, whose 42-year-old business is continually being named Best of Bucks.

Started in 1975, Cohen’s father ran the business as he was growing up in Forsythia Gate in Middletown, PA.

After getting a degree in business and marketing from Kutztown University, he joined the shop, bringing a different expertise that has led to the auto shop’s expansion to include an independent insurance agency, a car rental company and auto repairs.

“People bust my chops all the time and say, ‘How can you give advice in a body shop when you’re not working on the cars?’” Cohen said. “But let me ask you, if you have a fire at home or an auto accident, has the insurance agent ever worked on a home hit by fire or a damaged automobile? No. I’m here to help the customer make educated decisions to help from a financial standpoint. For example, do we place a claim or not and how will it affect my rates? Yes, we’re excellent at working on cars, but there’s more to it than that.”

Cohen, who also owns TLC Insurance Agency, LLC, loves the consulting part of the businesses.

“The agency is operated independently of the body shop,” Cohen said. “It helped since I have considerable insurance experience along with my agency partner, Jason Lagler, who has 18 years’ experience working for them and in sales as well.”

There are plans to expand the Penndel, PA, location, adding another paint shop, a separate office for the insurance agency and the rental agency.

The diversified business allows him to offer services other collision centers can’t, he said.

“I can do what they can do. They can’t do what I do,” he said, in regards to other insurance agents and going from collision into the insurance field. “Why not make it a one-stop shop like Amazon? I see a trend going back to that, helping make people’s lives easier in this busy world, building on trust and delivering on time.”

In addition, Neshaminy Collision relies on its long-time employees, whose workmanship has a lifetime warranty.

“We have great techs here and it isn’t easy keeping good techs in this business,” Cohen said. “One of our guys has been here for 36 years. That’s a testament to how we treat people. Technicians tend to float around. The guy that’s been here for 36 years left briefly over 10 years ago and worked for one of those super high production type of body shops, which are about quantity over quality. He worked there for a month and came back. He said he wanted to come home. He’s been here ever since.”

Cohen said he’s grateful for the work of his partner and employees---Nick Addeo, Jason Lagler and technicians, Ray Russell, Dave Leslie, Steve Reppert, Timmy Wallace, Kris Cullen, Marc Lees and Cody Turner “for helping make and take Neshaminy Collision to these heights. It takes our whole team to make it happen.”

“I want to take this to another level,” Cohen said. “I’m hoping my kids get into the business. Up until then, I just want the quality of workmanship to remain at this level and to just please everyone who comes in with their automotive and insurance needs.”
