The Automotive Service Association will provide its members and other attendees direct access to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) representatives and training at this year's Automotive Service & Repair Week (ASRW) events in October. Several OEMs have selected to show their continued commitment to repair professionals by participating in the second annual OEM Pavilion during the ASRW Expo. To date, confirmed participants include General Motors, Ford Motor Co. and Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc.

"Toyota is extremely pleased to have the chance to meet face-to-face with both our collision and mechanical customers," said Jerry Raskind, wholesale development manager, Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc. "Qualified experts will be available and ready to field questions on service, parts and repair techniques uniquely designed for the Toyota family of vehicles. The dual platform ASRW makes available in reaching all facets of the automotive service and repair industry is not only valuable, but will prove most efficient."

"General Motors is excited to continue our presence at ASRW in 2010," said Chris Brandt, GM brand manager. "It allows us to showcase our new products and services for both GM Collision and ACDelco that include free online collision technical repair information, new training classes and enhanced Total Service Support online program for independent automotive service centers. We look forward to a great show this year!"

In addition to a collision repair-related presence, Ford's booth will feature products and services from its Powertrain group, which is specifically designed for the mechanical segment of its business.

Five additional companies are expected to be confirmed soon from the growing list of verbal commitments. The OEM Pavilion allows ASA members and other attendees to visit with participating automakers in one area at the same time. Both collision and mechanical disciplines for each OEM will be represented, along with brand-specific training by some.

"We're pleased the OEMs recognize the importance their presence at our event is to the service and repair community," said Ron Pyle, ASA president and chief staff executive. "ASRW attendees require open communication with the auto manufacturers to provide quality service to their customers on a daily basis. What better place to see this come to fruition than ASRW - the industry's one-stop marketplace?"

The ASRW 2010 events will take place Oct. 10-13 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. Designed to be "the repairer's event," ASRW hosts the various meetings, shows and activities of numerous repairer-focused groups. A comprehensive educational program is scheduled for Oct. 10-13 (Sunday through Wednesday); and the Expo will be Oct. 11-13 (Monday through Wednesday). ASRW features the International Autobody Congress & Exposition (NACE), sponsored by the Automotive Service Association (ASA), the only event of its kind designed for the collision repair professional; the Congress of Automotive Repair & Service (CARS), also sponsored by ASA, the premier event for automotive service professionals; as well as Auto Glass Week, dedicated to the automotive glass professional.

New show features and industry forums are currently in development. Online registration will open in May and will offer package options starting at $210, and Expo registration for only $15, until the August 17 early cut-off. Extremely affordable hotel rates will be available this year. Housing arrangements can be made online beginning in April.
