Equipment and Cars To Benefit Las Vegas Students and Families May 4
Written by staffOn May 4, Allstate Insurance Company and Sterling Autobody Centers will put cars and tools in the hands of Las Vegas vocational students so they can use their skills to make a difference for local families. Sterling, through the Collision Repair Education Foundation, will donate more than $10,000 in tools to Southeast Career Technical Academy and the College of Southern Nevada. Along with the tools, Allstate will donate a salvage vehicle to each school for students to repair to "like new" condition. Once the rides are refurbished, the vehicles will be donated to Las Vegas families in need.
The donation to the schools will take place on Wednesday, May 4, 10 a.m., at Sterling Autobody Centers, 3343 North Rancho Drive in Las Vegas.
"Sterling's donation of tools and equipment is an investment in the future of the students at Southeast Career Technical Academy and the College of Southern Nevada," said Nick Notte, president of Sterling Autobody Centers. "Supporting their technical training and seeing them use their skills to provide the gift of transportation to two deserving families is very rewarding."
Notte added, "This is an opportunity to highlight the Collision Repair Education Foundation and the National Auto Body Council (NABC), organizations that both Allstate and Sterling support. Our partnership with Family Promise helps us with that giving. Sterling hopes to employ many of the students who will benefit from our gift."
The two Las Vegas vehicles are part of Allstate's commitment to donate a total of 60 refurbished automobiles to the NABC Recycled Rides Program. Sterling Autobody locations around the country will be refurbishing more than 30 cars. The recycled rides will then be given to families or non-profit organizations at multiple events later this year.
"Our participation in the Recycled Rides Program is an extension of Allstate's commitment to serve the communities in which we do business," said Bill Daly, Allstate Claims vice president. "It is an honor for us to be able to provide reliable transportation and help families across the country get to their jobs, doctor's appointments or other places they couldn't go without a ride."
Terry Lindemann, Executive Director of Family Promise and champion of the Recycled Rides Program will be on hand for the presentation, along with the recipient families.
The International Autobody Congress & Exposition (NACE) says it will be one of the sponsors of the International Bodyshop Industry Symposium (IBIS), scheduled for May 16-18 in Barcelona, Spain. NACE, the flagship event of Automotive Service & Repair Week (ASRW), is co-located with the Congress of Automotive Repair & Service (CARS) and is scheduled for Oct. 6-8 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.
IBIS, founded in 2001 by Bodyshop Magazine, has become firmly established as a leading global conference for collision industry leaders, thinkers and influencers and annually attracts approximately 300 of the collision industry's executives, who gather to identify and address the challenges currently facing the industry. The theme for IBIS 2011 - 20/20 Vision, encapsulates the symposium's purpose of providing informed insights into the issues that will be driving the market between now and the end of the decade.
"NACE and IBIS share many common goals of uniting the collision industry, which makes this new partnership a logical next step in the evolution of both events," said Ron Pyle, ASA president and chief staff executive. "We value the key international audience and opportunities an event like IBIS provides, and ASRW is pleased to be included as an official partner among an elite group of the collision industry."
As a sponsor, NACE receives international visibility and marketing exposure among IBIS attendees, publishing partners and other sponsors. Additionally, NACE plans to hold a press conference on-site at the event.
