Janet Chaney named NABC PRIDE committee chair E-mail
Tuesday, 01 March 2005

Autobody News contributor Janet Chaney has been appointed chairman of the National Auto Body Council's PRIDE committee, according to NABC president Guy Bargnes.

"The position was recently held by Stacy Bartnik," Bargnes said. "But she was elected Vice President of the Council at our annual meeting in Las Vegas, and that position will put additional demands on her time."

"Janet Chaney has been a member of the PRIDE committee for several years," commented Bartnik. "She did extensive research into past Award winners, and has excellent knowledge of the committee's workings. I have great confidence that she will take the PRIDE program to new levels."

The National Auto Body Council's PRIDE Award program annually recognizes those in the Collision Industry that selflessly give their time, energy, and often money, to causes outside the industry in order to make their communities better places to live.

"Stacy Bartnik set the bar incredibly high during her years as PRIDE Chair-man," noted Chaney. "Every year the quantity and quality of nominations has increased. That is a tough act to follow. But I wouldn't show respect for the job she did if I didn't try to do even better."

Chaney has a long history in the autobody world - dating back to the time she worked in the family business Chuck Chaney's Automotive Service - sweeping floors, detailing cars, and finally running the whole show.

She is former executive director of the Oregon Autobody Craftsman Association, where she served as editor of "The Golden Eagle" newsletter.

Currently, Chaney is a consultant to a network of shops in Arizona. She is an active participant in the Collision Industry Conference (CIC), NABC and other industry groups.

"Calls for nominations will be going out this month. And nominations can be filled out online at the Council's website," reminded Chaney.
