I-CAR elects new board, launches radio spots; enhanced web site E-mail

I-CAR has announced its 2000 - 2001 Board of Directors and Executive Committee, kicked off a new radio public service announcement program for its Gold Class Professional shop members and renovated its web site. The organization also announced awards for outstanding instructors and its Founder Award for those members who best exemplify the I-CAR volunteer spirit.

Receiving the Instructor of the Year Award in the South Pacific Region (California) was Carl M. Nelson of Farmers Insurance; in the Southwest, Tony Harrison of B&J Body Works; in the South Central Region Carl Samuels of GMAC Insurance.

Founders Awards were presented to Greg Gunter of Greg?s Auto Body for the South Pacific Region; Johnny Dickerson of Dickerson?s Collision Repair Service for the Southwest Region; and JoAnn Tomko of GMAC Insurance for the South Central Region.

Executive Committee

The I-CAR board is made up of representatives from six industry segments: Collision Repair; Insurance; Equipment, Tools and Supplies; Education, Training and Research; Vehicle Manufacturers; Related Industry Services.

As a result of the Bylaws change approved at the July 28th membership meeting, the Chairman and Vice Chairman are no longer limited to serving only one term in office, a change which paved the way for Rick Tuuri's reelection as Chairman.

The 2000-2001 Executive Committee consists of: Chair, Rick E. Tuuri, ADP/Claims Solutions Group; Vice Chair, Roger Foss, Toyota Motor Sales USA, Inc.; Treasurer, Timothy M. Clark, Professional Collision Group; Secretary, Gene Hamilton, Sports and Imports for Society of Collision Repair Specialists; and Board Member, Nick Notte, Allstate Insurance Company.

The Board also includes 16 Directors: Jack R. Aho, General Motors Corporation - Service Operations; Michael J. Davis, State Farm Insurance Co., Director-At-Large; Rod Enlow, USAA; Terry M. Fortner, NationwideInsurance Enterprise; Rodney M. New radio program

To boost its Gold Class program, I-CAR recently produced four new public service announcements (PSAS) for radio audiences. The announcements, which are sent to 1000 radio stations across the country, address the importance of looking for the Gold Class Professionals designation when choosing a collision repair facility. Web site enhancements

If you have not seen the I-CAR web site in awhile, you will want to log onto www.i-car.com. The site hasbeen redesigned for easier navigation and interesting new features have been added. It is now much easier tofind what you are looking for, from details on Enhanced Delivery programs to Gold Class point requirements. Not only is the I-CAR web site easy to use, but it's also the best source for the latest information on the many programs and services I-CAR offers.

I-CAR added new web pages to assist and educate consumers. This section informs consumers on what to do when they have been involved in a collision, and how to go about selecting a repair shop. Also included arenews articles that provide helpful tips on automobile maintenance and safe driving. A Committee and Volunteer page is currently being developed to provide I-CAR with a fast, efficient way to communicate with committees and volunteers.
