Last December, Hyundai Motor Company chose Akzo Nobel Car Refinishes as its first globally-approved aftermarket supplier. Akzo Nobel has been selected as the exclusive paint manufacturer to roll out the ‘Hyundai Dealership Global Body and Paint Strategy’ to its worldwide networks. The decision is aimed at increasing the quality, efficiency and profitability of Hyundai’s body and paint operations.

Since 2005, the two companies have merged competencies to develop the ‘Hyundai Dealership Global Body and Paint Strategy.’ The Strategy consists of the following four elements:

•Hyundai-approved products from Akzo Nobel Car Refinishes. Akzo Nobel supplies the full range of car refinishes products to all Hyundai dealer bodyshops using the brands Sikkens and Lesonal.

•Hyundai-approved co-branded Hyundai - Sikkens after-sales training. This involves a wide range of technical, process and management-oriented training in areas such as bodyshop efficiency, investments, administration and customer approach in after sales.

•Hyundai-approved body shop operations support. Akzo Nobel, in close cooperation with Hyundai, is developing the Hyundai-branded Body Shop Operations Manual, which provides guidelines to Hyundai dealers for creating profitable collision repair centers according to the standards of Hyundai Motor Company.

•Hyundai-approved Sikkens Services. Depending on local market needs, Akzo Nobel will provide added-value services to Hyundai’s after sales operations, such as the Sikkens Rapid Repair program, Sikkens e-Benchmarking, Sikkens Lifetime Warranty, and bodyshop lay-out design services.

According to Mr Chang-Seok Im, director of the Overseas Customer Service Group of Hyundai Motor Company: “Akzo Nobel was chosen because they are the global coatings leader, with proven technology, excellent services, and subsidiaries and sales offices in all major countries.”
