DSS Inc. will offer its Better Estimating® software free to qualified educational institutes and instructors as part of their Better Estimating educational initiative.
"We're just trying to do our part to help the industry," said founder John Rix. "We've heard and read over-and-over again about the lack of qualified estimators and what a great training tool the Better Estimating suite is, so we've decided to give away free copies of the software to any qualified educational institutes." The Better Estimating suite enables estimators to add not-included operations from a point-and-click p-page database and check their own work with EMSReview®. The ability to select not-included operations from a list simplifies the estimating and the instantaneous feedback enables estimators to quickly learn from their mistakes. Instructors can even view the estimates and audit reports online using our reporting software EMSAnalyze so they can track their students' progress more easily. The Better Estimating suite integrates seamlessly with Pathways, Ultramate and Shoplink, so schools can continue using their existing estimating systems. "It's a great training tool," explains Steve Morris, the vice president of operations at Holmes Body Shop, a chain of 10 stores in Los Angeles generating over $30 million in revenue and 1,500 repairs per months. "It reinforces the need to look for associated items," said Morris. "In our Alhambra store, we had a rookie estimator. I think it really helped him improve faster because he could learn from each estimate. You still have to teach why the items should be included but it really reinforces the need to look for associated items." For more information, visit www.betterestimating.com. |
