Tuesday, 01 August 2006

Earl Scheib, Inc. has joined in a voluntary partnership with California's South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) to provide free consultation services to auto body and paint industry businesses identified by the AQMD who need assistance in reducing their emission of air contaminants.

Earl Scheib will provide these referred businesses with technical information and advice to help control excessive odors and overspray generated from the auto body painting process.

New regulations limiting the emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) for the SCAQMD, covering the Los Angeles area, go into effect July 1, 2008. Additional regulations will be phased in over the following two years. The SCAQMD is the largest of California's 35 air quality control districts.

Earl Scheib's President and CEO Christian K. Bement, stated, "Earl Scheib recognizes effective environmental management as a corporate priority and is, and has been, actively involved in environmental innovations and technologies. Utilizing innovative and leading technologies such as fully filtered and enclosed paint booths, charcoal filtering processes, stacking systems and other equipment designed to minimize overspray, Earl Scheib is committed to implementing effective environmental solutions.

"We believe that sharing our know-how with others in our industry will not only help improve air quality in Southern California but also help improve the image of the auto paint and body industry."

Earl Scheib has shown its commitment to innovative environmental leadership by serving on the Auto Refinish Coalition of the National Paint & Coatings Association (NPCA), an over one-hundred-year-old nonprofit organization, which serves as industry advisor to national, state and local environmental organizations. Earl Scheib has received NPCA's Industry Achievement Award and Paint Pollution Protection Award, and energy conservation awards.
