BASF instructors must acquire AMI accreditation E-mail
Tuesday, 01 March 2005

BASF is the only automotive refinish paint company in North America to have all of its training instructors earn the AMI's prestigious Accredited Automotive Manager (AAM) designation, according to the Automotive Management Institute.

To earn accreditation, each BASF instructor completed 120 hours of training in the management of a collision repair business. The training, which was conducted by professional AMI instructors, covered topics such as marketing and sales, operations and service, management and administration, financial management, and personnel and human resource development.

"The Automotive Management Institute is acknowledged as the foremost provider of management training for the automotive service industry," said Jay Johnston, manager of Training and Development for BASF's Automotive Refinish Coatings business in North America

"By completing its Accredited Automotive Manager curriculum, our instructors have demonstrated a mastery of important business management principles that challenge most owners and managers of collision repair businesses."

According to Johnston, the AMI training has given the instructors a deeper understanding of what it takes to operate an automotive service business - including the paint shop - successfully.

"When combined with their proven instructional skills and experience, this newly gained management knowledge will enable our instructors to improve the quality and depth of management training offered to BASF customers, insurance company personnel and others that enroll in our courses. BASF has long been a leader in both technical and business management training for the refinish industry. Having all of our instructors earn AMI accreditation will raise the quality and relevance of our courses to a new level," expressed Johnston.

"Any time an industry professional puts forth the effort to achieve the AAM designation, it's truly an accomplishment. The dedicated pursuit by BASF and each of its instructors to attain this objective speaks to their commitment to offering targeted, high-quality training to our industry," said Toni Slaton, AMI Executive Director. "We congratulate BASF on being the first company to achieve this goal."
